The attack of the bands

REDWOOD CITY, CA—In what many Filipinos claim to be the “Concert of the Year,” popular Pinoy bands Parokya ni Edgar, Kamikazee, and rapper Gloc-9 were able to rock a packed FOX Theatre on Oct. 9, despite going through a venue change last month to accommodate more fans.
The concert, which opened its doors at 8 p.m., had fans waiting in front of the theatre as early as 6 p.m. wanting to hear live musical entertainment from the acclaimed artists.
“Sobrang saya yung crowd,” said Chito Miranda, lead singer of the famous group Parokya ni Edgar. “Thank you very very much.”
Chito said he was very thankful for the all fans for their support despite the band being fatigued and not being able practice their musical act for several days.
“Buti na lang yung crowd energetic, so na-boost din kami,” he said.
Led Zeppelin Tuyay, one of the guitarists from Kamikazee, said he really appreciates the huge turnout at the venue.
“Salamat sa pagtanggap,” Led said about the fans and all of their support for the band’s performance. “Sobrang ayos.”
Unlike Kamikazee and Parokya ni Edgar, this was the first time Aristotle “Aries” Pollisco, known as the award-winner rapper Gloc-9, toured the U.S.
“Sobrang excited kasi ito yung first time ko magperform dito sa States,” Gloc-9 said.
After the performances by warm-up acts, Sandamukal Crew and Alyas Galo, Gloc-9 opened up the main event with his hit songs “Simpleng Tao” and “Sumayaw Ka”, which drove the fans wild.
He also performed “Upuan” and other songs from his new album “Matrikula”, which came out earlier this year.
Also, Gloc-9, along with some members of Kamikazee and Parokya ni Edgar, performed the highly emotional song “Lando”, a song which featured iconic Filipino rapper Francis Magalona, who lost the battle to leukemia on March 6 of this year.
Kamikazee also put on a great performance following Gloc-9’s act.
They played their popular singles such as “Narda”, “Ambisyoso”, “Martyr Nyebera”, and “Seksi! Seksi!”
During a segment of their performance, Jay Contreras, lead singer of Kamikazee, invited a fan onstage and kissed her on the cheek.
“We are crazy,” Jay said.
Closing the night, Parokya ni Edgar ended the show in all-out fashion. Chito and the rest of the band played fan favorites such as “Para Sa’yo”, “Buloy”, “Halaga”, “Picha Pie”, and many other songs, which drove the crowds into a frenzy state.
There were moments during the show where Vincent "Vinci" Montaner, a vocalist of the group, would go crowd surfing onto the crazed audience.
Parokya ni Edgar closed out the night with their hit song “The Ordertaker”, which also featured all the Kamikazee band members onstage.
The concert left the crowds in the FOX theatre wanting more.
“Sa amin lang personally medyo nabitin kami kasi we wanted to play more songs,” Chito said.
The Parokya ni Edgar, Kamikazee, and Gloc-9 US Tour has made stops in major cities such as Seattle, Houston, and Los Angeles.
The tour took them to Oxnard, Calif, on Oct. 17th, Las Vegas on Oct. 18th, and they will be in San Diego on Oct. 23rd.
