A Tony Award winner, Grammy-nominee and singing voice for two Disney princesses, the celebrated soprano is also one of the best-selling Filipino artists of all time.
Morongo Casino, Resort & Spa – Tony Award-winning singer and actress Lea Salonga will bring her powerful vocals and stage presence to the Morongo Casino, Resort & Spa’s Grand Ballroom on Saturday, April 6.
“Lea Salonga captivates audiences worldwide as an amazing soprano whose emotional concerts are nothing short of mesmerizing,” said Morongo’s Executive Director of Marketing Simon Farmer. “Fans should expect a dazzling performance packed with songs from her many Broadway performances and her Disney animated features as she takes the audience to a whole new world.”
Salonga, winner of the Entertainer of the Year Award and the Best Major Concert (Female) Award at the 31st Annual Aliw Awards in the Philippines this month, has performed sold-out concerts all over the world from Los Angeles to Hong Kong. She has performed for many notable figures such as Bill Clinton, Queen Elizabeth II, and Princess Diana, and with such stars as Stevie Wonder, Harry Connick Jr., and Patti Austin.
Salonga’s career in musical theater began at the age of seven performing in The King and I. Her breakout role came when she was cast as play Kim in the hit Broadway musical Miss Saigon, for which she won a Tony Award for Best Performance by a Leading Actress in a Musical, making her the first Asian to win a Tony Award. The Grammy-nominated singer went on to provide the singing voice for two Disney princesses, Mulan and Jasmine, earning her the title of “Disney Legend” in 2011.
Currently, she stars as the Goddess of Love Erzulie in the Broadway revival of Once on this Island. She has extended her profile from just Broadway and has guest starred on the hit CW television show “My Crazy Ex-Girlfriend.” She is also a judge on the Philippines version of The Voice. She has released over 26 CDs with music ranging from traditional Filipino songs, Jazz, Christmas songs, and Broadway Cast Recordings.
Tickets are available for $120, $70, and $50 via Ticketmaster and Morongo Box Office. Doors open at 7 PM at the Grand Ballroom, with the show starting at 8 PM.
