“Amin na ‘to.” (This is ours.)
This was how NLEX Road Warriors head coach Yeng Guiao began as he selected the fourth overall pick of the PBA draft.
To everyone’s surprise, NLEX selected Paul Desiderio, who had just helped bring the UP Fighting Maroons to the UAAP Finals stint for the first time in 32 years.
The Maroons may have failed to bring home the crown, but UP’s journey probably gave Desiderio’s draft bid an additional boost.
Even so, Desiderio was surprised to be picked so early in the draft.
“Di ko inaasahan. (I did not expect this.),” the man behind “Atin ‘To” said.
“Kung anong ipapagawa sakin ni Coach Yeng, gagawin ko. (Whatever Coach Yeng wants me to do, I’ll do it.),” he added. — Justin Kenneth Carandang/BM, GMA News
