Annual event spotlights Filipino culture and is part of the Bay Area Filipino Heritage Games Series.

Oakland, CA – The Oakland Athletics will celebrate Filipino Heritage Night on Friday August 31, 2018 as they make a final push for a highly coveted spot in this year’s American League playoffs against division rival, the Seattle Mariners.

“The Filipino American Arts Exposition is proud to partner with the Oakland A’s once again to bring the Filipino American community together in celebration of Filipino heritage and to ignite cultural pride especially with the next generation of Filipino Americans,” said Al Perez, President of FAAE. “We are excited to begin a collaboration with the Filipino Food Movement this year, who will curate a caravan of Filipino food trucks at Championship plaza for a delicious lineup of Filipino cuisine.”

The participating Filipino food trucks include: Antonik’s BBQ, Carinderia Food Truck, Frozen Kushterd, It’s All Gravy, Jeepsilog, Magnolia Ice Cream, maSarap Truck, and Yummy BBQ.

This year’s Filipino Heritage Night festivities kick-off at 5:30 pm with a pre-game tailgate party and live cultural performances by Mabuhay Folkloric Society and Zeyoncé Brown at Championship plaza. Shortly thereafter the celebration will move to the field with opening ceremonies featuring an encore performance by Mabuhay Folkloric Society, with storied Filipino-American Actor Dante Basco throwing out the first pitch, and a rendition of the Star-Spangled Banner sung by local Island Reggae Band, CRSB.

By purchasing a Filipino Heritage Night special event ticket (Filipino Heritage Night Tickets) you will receive a limited edition Filipino Heritage Stomper (Oakland A’s mascot) bobble-head as well as seating in the special Filipino Heritage section in the Coliseum. A percentage of the proceeds from each ticket sale will benefit local Filipino non-profit organizations.

First Pitch is at 7:05 pm so come out this Friday, bring friends and family and get there early to enjoy the tastes of the Philippines and cheer on the Green and Gold!
