Here in the US, California ranks second to New York in terms of international visitors. After all the City of Big Apple have the Times Square, the Empire State, the Statue of Liberty and a lot of Broadway Shows. Not to be outdone California particularly in Los Angeles still boasts the title of being the “Entertainment Capital of the World.” It has the best theme park in Disneyland, it has Universal Studios, it has Legoland and more importantly it has Hollywood.

This is the very reason why officials of the Iglesia Ni Cristo have chosen Los Angeles to be the destination for their first ever Excellence in Visual Media Awards or the EVMA. Participants from all over the world have congregated in the Microsoft Theatre, which is also home for the Emmy Awards, ESPY Awards, American Music Awards and a host of sporting events from Boxing to e-games. Now members of the INC can now proudly say that the former Nokia Theatre now Microsoft Theatre is home of the INCinema’s EVMA. Move over, INCinema here they come.

In an interview with Mr Eduardo Javier, Minister of the gospel and District Minister for Southwest California and was host for the event he said, “There is an abundance of talents which the Church Administration would like to enrich.  That is why we would like to continuously harness and develop them. This way church members who are actors and actresses, scriptwriters, cinematographers, directors and even cameramen will now have a platform to showcase their God given talents.”

He also added that the selection process was so tedious. To make it here you need to go thru and pass the regional competition.  “These participants are already regional winners as more than 100 entries submitted their entries. Remember INC is now in 147 countries and the entries that made it to the EVMA are from the Philippines, United States, United Kingdom, Australia, Canada and Qatar”

INCinema is a brainchild of INC Executive Minister Eduardo V Manalo. Thus, all the short films that are shown here are all promoting Christian values and making sure that this will manifest the manner by which Church members of INC serve Our Lord Jesus Christ and Our God the Father in heaven.
