Chicago’s commemoration of the 65th Korean war armistice signing july 1953
It is our distinct pleasure to cordially extend our invitation to our entire Filipino community to attend the upcoming 65th Commemoration, a mid-decade event celebrating the end of the Conflict and hostilities then, but not the war and path to peace in the Korean Peninsula.
We’re working close with a consortium of patterned veteran organization and in collaboration with various community groups in Illinois to desperately locate all service branches KWV of the 1950-1953 campaign. In observance of the Armistice signing on July 27, 1953, we are requesting your assistance to also help us locate within our Filipino community, all veterans who had served in support with the Philippine Expeditionary Forces to Korea of nearly 1.5k troops during that era or their next-of-kin.
It is our desire that staff associates of the Consulate General of the Republic of the Philippines Chicago and its community accept this letter of invitation to attend our event program on Saturday, July 28, 2018, in Chicago’s Kennedy Park, 11320 S. Western Ave. Chicago, IL. 60643, scheduled from 10:00 am till noon. All are welcome to bring hand held National flags of our Philippine nation to wave in honor of the Battalion Combat Teams (BCT) honorable service and sacrifice. Our community’s attendance at this social celebration would truly affirm the bond of our continued alliance created by the original members from sixteen supporting countries of the United Nation some 65 years ago. The event flyer corresponding to this invitation is also attached for your review and distribution. It is a great opportunity and privilege once again, to have our Filipino community requested to assist in the organization of this important event, following the recent high profile US-North Korea Summit.
In addition, we will also help bring needed awareness for Sponsor to the new US Congressional Bill HR-5222, awarding the Congressional Gold Medal to all Combat Korean War Veterans that includes each of the sixteen UN-Allied member nations that sent troops in the support to the ROK region. Again, we hope representation from our Filipino organization in the community can join us with our nation’s flag at this memorable event. Thank you for your consideration.
