Living the Crucified Life

“I have been crucified with Christ;and it is no longer I who live, but it is Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.”—Galatians 2:19-20

If you want to live the most fulfilling life possible, you live the crucified life.  What does it mean to live the crucified life?  Does it mean that we live some sort of gruesome life?  Do we live the kind of life that leads to misery and despair?  No, it means that we are living life to the fullest (Matthew 6:33)—an abundant life!  A life that seeks to put God and his kingdom above all else.  A life that desires to live right in the sight of God and please him in everything we say and do.

All this means that you must put the will and ways of God before your own.  You give to God your career, your marriage, your ministry, your goals, your resources and your entire future—and you live the crucified life.  It’s just like Jesus who prayed, “Father … not my will but be done.” (Luke 22:42)

Paul said, “For I decided to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ, and him crucified” (1 Corinthians 2:2).  It’s crucial that we proclaim the resurrection.  If Christ is not risen, then our faith is in vain and we are to be the most pitied of people.  So, we don’t want to just talk about a crucified Savior, we want to talk about a risen Lord.  It’s about living the crucified life.  It’s about taking up our own cross daily to follow Christ.  It’s about our dying that we may find life.
