“Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.”—1 Corinthians 13:7
Love isn’t something human beings invented. We are able to love and be loved because we are made in the image of God. If love is an intensely observable and powerful feeling of deep affection it has to mean something. Love is the one tangible thing we’re capable of experiencing and sharing.
Love is a force that breaks through dimensions of time, space, and matter. And it transcends across our past, present and future. So, love means something so much more—something we can’t quite fully understand. Love is the one thing that draws me across the dimensions of time and space to my father who I haven’t seen in fifteen years, who I know has passed away.
Love is a propelling force that sends us in the directions we need to go. Sometimes we feel that we are tapping into that force of love. At times, it picks us up and forcibly pushes us toward the right decision to make or right action to take.
Love is just as concrete and powerful as the other forces that make up our universe. Love pushes and pulls us better than gravity ever could, and it endures through time, space, and matter. Love is the key force behind life. Love always finds a way to lift us up to another state.
And that’s the message of Paul in 1 Corinthians 13 when he wrote, “Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.” The love from within the human heart and mind is the most awesome God-given power in the universe. Living will come to an end, but loving will live on forever.
