SENATOR YEE CONGRATULATES GOVERNOR, TEACHERS ON REACHING TAX COMPROMISE

SACRAMENTO – Today, Senator Leland Yee (D-San Francisco/San Mateo) issued the following statement regarding the tax initiative deal reached by Governor Jerry Brown and the California Federation of Teachers:

“I am thrilled by the news that Governor Brown and CFT have reached a compromise deal to finally raise revenue for schools and critical services. I look forward to this tax initiative qualifying for the ballot and to vigorously fighting for its passage. For too many years, the state budget has been unfairly passed on the backs of our kids and the most vulnerable in our society. It is long overdue for the rich to pay their fair share. As a legislator who voted against the previous budget cuts to education and social services, I commend the Governor and our teachers for fighting to restore funds for education and those most in need.”
