SACRAMENTO – Senator Leland Yee (D-San Francisco/San Mateo) issued the follow response to President Barack Obama’s State of the Union address:
“I commend President Obama on his speech and his tireless leadership to end the wars, provide affordable healthcare, assist small businesses, and respect all families.
The President is exactly right – Congress needs to work in a bipartisan fashion to help the poor and grow the middle class. We need to develop jobs, address climate change, and create a tax code that is fair. We need a government that is smart by improving our infrastructure, investing in clean energy, and modernizing schools.
In California, we are prepare to support his efforts to end gun violence, ensure universal preschool, renew the Violence Against Women Act, increase the minimum wage, pass comprehensive immigration reform, and protect the vote.”
Together, I believe America’s best days are yet to come.”
