“The Daly City Council takes great pleasure in presenting this certificate to Total Wine & More in recognition of its grand opening in Daly City. Welcome to Daly City. We wish the company, and employees many success and a prosperous future as a new member of the business community. Signed Mayor Juslyn Manalo” was what was written in the certificate read and given to Total Wine & More store management.

*Daly City is host to Total Wine & More superstore’s 185th store nationwide, the 26th store in California and also its 8th store in the Bay Area hat opened last week.

In an interview, Manalo deems it important that “to support businesses that provide our residents opportunity of selection and for them not having to go anywhere else but in their local area.”  “It is important for folks not having to go outside of the vicinity where they live. The establishment has said how they are very responsible and I think even in its first day before the grand opening I feel the gravitation of a lot of people here. The design of the store makes the people come to a wine place with a lot of selections (with 8,000 wines, 3,000 beers and 2,500 spirits) making it a one-stop place for people’s parties in a very tasteful manner,” Manalo stated.

Total Wine & More’s Regional Vice President Jim Wieland shared that the U.S. West Coast is where Total Wine has 57 of its nationwide 185 stores. “We have five states that I supervise — Arizona, Nevada California, Washington and New Mexico — are the five states that I manage and oversee. We are independently owned by David and Robert Trone and are the largest, independent retailer of wine beer, and spirits in the United States. We are proud to bring our model in the Daly City area where I understand that this community is underserved in the alcohol beverage industry. We bring to you great prices, great selection and most important great service,” Wieland claimed.

Wieland also revealed that one of the things that they do in Total Wine is to make a commitment to the community whose members they also get engaged with.

And the lucky community partner in this opening that will receive the donated 10% of wine sale in the weekend or a minimum of $10,000 is the San Francisco Symphony.

In reaction, San Francisco Symphony executive director Mark Hanson congratulated Total Wine & More for its business success, global expansion, and for coming to Daly City.

“We very much appreciate your commitment to our community and applaud your instinct and promise to invest the hopefully more than $21,000 in proceeds from the opening weekend right back to the community here in Daly City and throughout the Bay Area,: Hanson remarked. “I hope that you know that you partially own one of America’s greatest symphony orchestra. The San Francisco symphony is over 100 years old. Is internationally, nationally and throughout this community renowned not only for it performances but also in its community education program throughout the region including Daly City.”
