Walnut Knights of Columbus installed

WALNUT, CA – The Knights of Columbus, San Lorenzo Ruiz Council 14007 officers were installed on July 21, after Holy Mass at the San Lorenzo Ruiz Church officiated by Pastor, Rev. Fr. Tony P. Astudillo. Installing Officer was Sir Knight (SK) Fidel David, past Grand Knight (GK) and Sir Knight Ricardo ‘Sonny’ Lachica was sworn in as the new Worthy Grand Knight. Among dignitaries present were Walnut Mayor Nancy Tragarz, and Walnut Councilmembers Bob Pacheco, Mary Su, and U.S. Representative Ed Royce (CA 39th Dist.), who announced early this year that he’s retiring from Congress and won’t seek re-election this November. Other Officers installed were: Worthy Dep. GK, SK Tony Cartagena, former Walnut Mayor; Worthy Chancellor, SK Manolo ‘Nol’ Tabangay; Worthy Warden, SK Danny Banez; Worthy Financial Sec., SK Michael Grajeda; Worthy Treas., SK Art Malicdem; Worthy Inside Guard, SK James Rondolos; Worthy Outside Guard, SK Amando ‘Manding’ Alberto; Worthy Trustee 3 years, SK Fidel David; Worthy Trustee 2 years, SK Ed Slingluff; Worthy Trustee 1 year, SK Joseph Jimenez; Worthy Advocate, SK Nestor Herrera; and Worthy Lecturer, SK Miramon Nuevo. Sir Knight Sonny Lachica inducted the following new Directors: Membership Director, SK Manolo ‘Nol’ Tabangay; Special Programs Director, SK Tony Cartagena; Faith Committee Director, SK Fernando Perez; Family Committee Director, SK Bill Harms, past GK; Community Committee Director, SK Joseph Jimenez, past GK; and Life Committee Director, SK Al Worland. At the dinner program held at the Velluchi Hall, MC Sir Knight Joseph Jimenez presented Bro. Alvin Sunga who sang the U.S. national anthem and SK Bill Ruiz, past Grand Knight, who led the Pledge of Allegiance. SK Tony Cartagena welcomed guests while SK Joseph spotlighted talented singers, Sir Knight Alvis ‘the Elvis’ Quinto and Sir Tony Virata.
